Plateful privacy policy
The short version
Plateful has no accounts. You never give us a name, an email address or a phone number, and we never ask for one.
To build your weekly plan, the app sends your cooking preferences — including anything you type into the "avoid" step — to an AI service. That service is contractually bound to keep no copy of it and to never train on it.
The app also sends anonymous product analytics, which you can switch off. Those analytics contain counts and choices only. Your ingredients, your dietary text and your allergy text are never sent to analytics.
Your recipes, plans and shopping lists live on your iPhone. Delete the app and they are gone.
Nothing is sold. Nothing is used for advertising. Nothing is tracked across other companies' apps or websites.
What the app processes
To build your weekly plan
When you generate a plan, these are sent to our AI provider:
- how many people you are cooking for
- which meals you want (lunch, dinner or both), and how many days
- roughly how long you want to spend cooking
- your dietary preferences
- anything you asked us to avoid, including allergies you type in, sent exactly as written
- your language
- the recipes generated for your week, sent a second time so the batch-cooking order can be worked out
Your name, email address, contacts, location and payment details are never sent.
Stored only on your iPhone
- your current weekly plan, and up to 10 previous plans
- your shopping list and which items you have ticked off
- your saved recipes
- your cooking timers
- your language and unit preferences
- your consent choices, and whether the free week has been used
- a local feedback log: if you rate a recipe, the app records that rating together with the recipe and the preferences that produced it, including free text you typed. This file stays on your device — it is never uploaded — and holds at most the 200 most recent entries.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see or store your card details.
Third parties
OpenRouter and Anthropic — building your plan
Your plan inputs go to OpenRouter, Inc., which routes them to Anthropic's Claude model.
Zero Data Retention is enforced on Plateful's account, and all data-training options are disabled. Your inputs are held only for as long as it takes to generate your plan and are not retained by OpenRouter or Anthropic afterwards. They are never used to train AI models.
The request carries no name, no email address, no account identifier and no device identifier. It is not linked to your analytics identity or to your subscription.
The app asks for your agreement before the first time it sends anything to this service, and tells you on that screen exactly what is sent. If you decline, no plan is generated and nothing is sent.
Recipes, cooking steps and storage advice are AI-generated and can be wrong. Use your own judgement in the kitchen, particularly around food safety and allergens. For storage times we link you to FoodSafety.gov rather than restating times in our own words.
Mixpanel — product analytics
Plateful sends anonymous usage analytics to Mixpanel, Inc. (processed in the United States) to understand which parts of the app people actually use.
What is sent:
- event names and screen names (for example
weekly_plan_generated,paywall_view) - counts and yes/no answers — how many diet tags you chose, how many items are on your avoid list, whether you added a note, how many days your plan covers, whether you are subscribed
- fixed choices from a set — meal types, prep-length bucket, grocery category, failure reason
- a random identifier created on your device, which is not your Apple advertising identifier and not your device's vendor identifier
- your device model, iOS version, app version and screen size
- your app language
What is never sent:
- your ingredients
- your dietary preference text
- your allergy or "avoid" text
- your notes
- recipe titles (a generated title can echo something you typed)
- your name, email address, contacts or location
Location: Plateful instructs Mixpanel not to use your IP address for geolocation. Every analytics request is marked so that no city, region or country is derived or stored.
Your choice: analytics can be switched off at any time under Profile → Analytics. In the EU and EEA it is off by default and nothing is sent unless you turn it on. Elsewhere it is on by default. When it is off, the analytics service is never started — nothing is sent, and nothing is saved up to send later.
RevenueCat — subscriptions
RevenueCat, Inc. manages your subscription status. It receives:
- your App Store transaction and receipt (product, price, currency, purchase and expiry dates, trial status)
- an anonymous subscriber identifier that RevenueCat generates — not linked to any account, because Plateful has none
- your device's vendor identifier (IDFV), which RevenueCat's SDK sends with every request. This identifier is specific to your device and to apps from this developer, and is reset when you delete all of them.
- your App Store storefront country, so the correct price is shown
Pexels and TheMealDB — recipe photos
To illustrate a dish, the app requests a photo from Pexels and TheMealDB using a food search term taken from the recipe title, such as "moroccan lamb tagine". As with any web request, these services see your IP address.
No identifier, no account and none of your preferences accompany these requests, and they are not linked to you.
Apple
Apple processes your purchase, and handles the ratings prompt and the App Store link. Apple's handling of your Apple Account and payment details is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
How this information is used
Only to run the app: to generate your plan, to show your subscription, to illustrate recipes, and to understand aggregate product usage so Plateful can be improved.
Your information is never sold. It is never used for advertising. It is never used to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and the app therefore does not ask for tracking permission.

Your choices and rights
- Turn analytics off — Profile → Analytics. Immediate, and nothing is queued.
- Decline AI processing — say no on the consent screen. No plan will be generated and nothing will be sent.
- Delete everything on your device — delete the app. Plans, saved recipes, the local feedback log and every preference go with it.
- Restore purchases — Profile → Restore Purchases, or the paywall.
Because there is no account, we cannot look you up by name or email, and we cannot connect a specific device to a person.
Depending on where you live you may have rights under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA, including access, correction, deletion, portability and objection. Plateful does not sell or share personal information as those laws define it. To exercise a right, or to ask about anything here, email mskerba13@gmail.com. Analytics can be deleted on request if you can supply the random analytics identifier from your device.
Permissions
Plateful requests no system permissions. It does not use the camera, the microphone, your photos, your contacts, your location or notifications.
Children's privacy
This app is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age that applies where you live. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date. If a change affects what is sent to the AI provider, the in-app consent screen is updated at the same time and consent is requested again.
